Excursion Information
Sydney Aquarium is one of Sydney's most popular school excursion venues.
On display is the largest and most comprehensive collection of aquatic life in Australia, housing over 12,000 animals representing 650 different species.
The Venue
The Aquarium comprises a main exhibit hall, two interactive touch pools, two floating oceanariums and one fixed oceanarium. The fixed oceanarium is dedicated the Great Barrier Reef. The displays allow the students to appreciate the diversity of Australia's unique aquatic habitats and their fascinating fauna and flora. A wide range of curriculum-based educational kits which contain background information and student worksheets are available in the right-hand column of this page. Special group rates apply for school bookings. Bookings are essential.

The Aquarium is open from 9am to 8pm every day.

School excursions are permitted any time during opening hours.

It is recommended you allow approximately one and a half hours at the Aquarium.

Excursions are self-guided.

Bookings are essential and should be made at least two weeks in advance.

There is no minimum or maximum group size for pre-booked groups.

Payment is made on the day by cash, school cheque or credit card. Students cannot pay individually.

Teachers are encouraged to visit the aquarium before an excursion.

Free entry is offered at any time to NSW teachers only on presentation of teacher ID.
